Bandler's Puma

Bandler's Puma

Purpose of the Technique:

This short format by Richard Bandler can be used when you’ve been seriously annoyed by someone—or even feel a bit afraid of them. It's important that you don't have a meaningful emotional relationship with this person. The format is designed for quickly releasing tension.
If you want to let go of anger toward a specific person, just follow these three simple steps:

Standard Steps:

  1. Create the Scene
  2. The Puma
  3. Feel the Relief

Detailed Steps:

Create the Scene:

Imagine a person who has repeatedly annoyed you with their behavior—or someone you even feel a bit afraid of. Visualize this person clearly in front of you, then mentally push them far away—until they’re about a hundred meters away.
Imagine them standing on a green meadow. On either side of them rise towering mountains, while the person looks tiny standing in this valley. Now add sound: imagine a brass band playing on one of the mountains—loud, terrible, booming music echoing throughout the valley and off the mountainsides.

The Puma:

Now imagine a puma sitting on one of the mountain peaks. It has sleek, shiny fur, a powerful presence, and fluid, graceful movements. The puma is massive and stares down into the valley at the person. You see its claws extend. You hear it purring.
Now mentally *step into* the puma. Look down into the valley through its eyes. You *are* the puma now. Feel the strength in your paws. Move them a few times to really sense the power. Feel the air resistance as you swipe your paws through the air. Let out a mighty roar—so loud the valley and the mountains tremble.
Then, with a loud shout—“**Your ass is mine!**”—strike with both paws from the left and right, and grab that person down in the valley.

Feel the Relief:

If you feel the urge to laugh out loud—go for it. Enjoy the release!
