Circle of Excellence

Circle of Excellence

Purpose of the Technique:

The **Circle of Excellence** is used to make states of excellence consciously and consistently accessible.
It is based on a *moment of excellence*, linked with a physical **floor anchor**. Through this format, the client creates a powerful internal resource—something they carry with them and can call upon whenever needed.
The client either draws from a personal moment of excellence or constructs one using multiple resource states. What makes this format unique is that it uses **VAK anchoring**—incorporating all major sensory systems (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic).
The Circle of Excellence isn’t just for anchoring positive states; it can also be used to transform limiting experiences. Depending on the situation, the client can create different Circles of Excellence. Often, though, a single well-formed circle is so powerful and versatile that it can be applied universally.

Standard Steps:

  1. Visual Anchor
  2. Resource Anchor
  3. Auditory Anchor
  4. Kinesthetic Anchor
  5. Circle of Excellence

Through the simple act of visualizing the circle, the desired resource can be quickly and easily activated.
This format engages the **non-dominant hemisphere** (Steps 1 & 2), the **dominant hemisphere** (Step 4), and the **body** (by stepping in/out of the circle and using gestures in Step 3 & 4).

Process of the Circle of Excellence:

  1. Choose a desired resource state.
  2. Visual Anchor: Visualize an attractive, symbolic circle that matches the resource state and anchor it physically on the floor.
  3. Step into the circle with the chosen resource state, fully experience the state, and associate it with the circle.
  4. Auditory Anchor: Outside the circle, find a supportive sound, word, or phrase that reinforces the state.
  5. Enter the circle again while saying or hearing the sound/phrase and link it with both the circle and the resource.
  6. Kinesthetic Anchor: Outside the circle, create a supportive gesture.
  7. Step into the circle with the gesture and experience the resource fully—connecting it with the gesture, the word/sound, and the circle.
  8. Integrate the Circle of Excellence in a way that fits the client personally (e.g., internalize it, imagine carrying it with them).
  9. Test and Manifestation: The resource circle is now available to the client at any time.
