More Life Success with NLP

Unleash Your Full Potential and Achieve Your Personal Goals

Topics:

• How to make your dreams and goals come true

• How to build strong self-confidence and thus unlock your inner potential

• How to attract the right people into your life

I’m delighted that you’ve downloaded this e-book and begun reading it. I want to dive right in and show you, through my own life story, what NLP is capable of.

My Success Story Begins with a Crisis

More than 20 years ago, I was very dissatisfied with my life. My first great love had left me, and I saw no reason to keep living. While searching for a reason not to end my life, I came across a method called Neuro-Linguistic Programming (NLP for short), which literally changed EVERYTHING overnight.

Of course, I wasn’t a completely different person the next day, but suddenly there was a new spark in my life that has stayed with me ever since. Over the following months and years, this impulse led to dramatic changes. I succeeded in developing my personality and becoming the person I wanted to be. A shy young man became a self-confident entrepreneur who can rock a stage in front of thousands of participants and give interviews on TV or radio.

Starting from my own personality, I was able to attract many charming and appealing life partners, and finally the woman of my dreams. I managed to climb out of debt and build a company that has seven-digit turnover in the field of my choice.

Building “personal development” and three years ago, I moved into the villa of my dreams. My children are growing into wonderful personalities, and my company continues to expand, reaching more people and becoming ever more well-known. My thoughts and ideas are beginning to make an impact on society.

As I write these lines, I’m looking out at the sea from my hotel room. I feel the power of the waves rolling onto the sandy beach, and I know that power is within me and within you too. It’s a fantastic moment in a life full of movement.

I vividly remember the absolute low point of my life, the very moment that became the starting point of my success story. Now, I look back on it with deep gratitude and inner happiness.

I will never forget the moment when I wanted to end my life. It’s remarkable how my inner world, and then my outer world, have changed since then. You, too, can undergo these transformations if you follow the instructions in this e-book.

I’ve now been using NLP for 20 years and, during that time, have had the chance to guide tens of thousands of people through my books, audiobooks, seminars, and coaching programs. The changes I experienced firsthand are not unique. Again and again, my readers and participants have been able to create these transformations in themselves.

But success doesn’t happen by chance. It requires consistent application of the NLP methods.

I’m excited to share this knowledge with you, as I have repeatedly witnessed the effects of NLP in my seminars. In this e-book, I will show you briefly and precisely which steps can also lead you to a new life, if you follow and apply them.

So let’s get started! Dive into the adventure of your life. You are a unique being, and you deserve to celebrate amazing successes in this life and attract everything you want into it.

You will attract wonderful people, as well as luck and wealth. It’s up to you to choose what you want to have or be. You are the creator of your life.

Learn from the Peak Performances of Others in the Future

NLP emerged from the idea of making peak performance reproducible. The principle is: If someone else can perform at an excellent level, then I can do it too, provided I figure out how they do it.

That’s why methods were developed within NLP to capture and thoroughly understand peak performances. The strategies of top experts from many fields were analyzed and then distilled to their essentials.

By now, there are numerous success patterns from the fields of leadership, sales, communication, finance, health, personal development, relationships, dealing with children, and so on. This means you no longer have to start from scratch. You don’t have to learn everything solely from your own experience.

With NLP, you hold the key to a new turbo-charged way of learning in your hands. Going forward, you’ll achieve your ambitions much faster because you’ll use the strategies of great masters.

NLP continues to be developed by leading practitioners, so new success strategies are always being added. Of course, covering all these areas would go beyond the scope of this book. Therefore, we’ll focus on just the tip of the iceberg.

In this e-book, I’ll share three important strategies with you:

  • You will learn how to set irresistible goals and anchor them deeply within yourself through visualization and clear formulation.
  • You will learn how to build strong self-confidence so that you can stand up for your goals and pursue them courageously in everyday life.
  • You will learn how to build strong relationships with other people so that they’ll want to spend time with you.

Finally, this e-book will offer you tips on how you can learn NLP in the simplest way possible going forward.

Dreams and Goals

“Nothing happens without a dream first!”

Victor Hugo
French writer, known for works like “Les Misérables” and “The Hunchback of Notre-Dame”

Get Clear on What You Want

Everything starts in your head. Begin by clarifying what you actually want out of life.

Try the Bucket List Exercise: Write down everything you want to have, do, or be in your life before you “kick the bucket.” This is a very powerful exercise. I often have participants in my seminars do this on the beach during one of my seven- or ten-day abroad seminars.

Alternatively, do the Goal-Setting Exercise: Put yourself in a dreamer’s mindset and dream wildly about every area of your life. Write down how you’d like to grow personally, what kind of person you want to be.

Write down what you want to do career-wise: How do you envision your workplace? Which colleagues do you want to work with? How often, when, and how long do you want to work?

What about your finances? Where do you invest? How do you develop your financial intelligence?

What kind of partner do you want to be with privately? What would you like to experience with them? How do you show them your love?

What do you do in your free time? What do you do just for fun? What new things do you want to learn? Which new hobby would you like to start?

Do you love traveling? What are your social goals? How do you enrich the world by what you do?

Take at least an hour to answer these and similar questions. Then repeat this exercise at regular intervals.

A good exercise in this category is also the Vision Board. Choose appealing images from magazines or the internet, and paste them onto a large sheet of paper. Pick images that resonate with you emotionally, and then hang this collage in your home.

Tip:

If you’ve already done these exercises, then move on to advanced NLP goal-planning exercises like the Walt Disney Strategy and get as creative with vision-seeking and achieving as the famous entrepreneur Walt Disney, who built a multi-billion-dollar empire from nothing with his ideas.

Or take an afternoon and try the “Clock of the Future” format, which I developed in 1998 as a holistic, integrative life-planning method. Even using just a few components of this model—e.g., Timeline technique, the Dilts Pyramid, or the Mentor technique—will work wonders for your clarity and motivation to achieve your goals. Each of these techniques by itself is powerful.

If you’re not familiar with these techniques, you should definitely learn them. One of the best opportunities is my two-day seminar “Live Your Dream,” which you can currently book at a very special rate. Alternatively, most of these methods are explained in detail in my 360-page workbook “Way Up – Living Your Own Dream.”

Clearly Formulating Goals

From the previous exercises, choose your most important one-year goals. Which of these goals will advance you significantly toward fulfilling your dreams in about a year?

Formulate this goal very clearly using the NLP “Well-Formed Outcome” criteria:

Positively Stated: Make sure you describe what you want instead of what you don’t want. Avoid negations. Don’t write “I don’t want any more debt.” Don’t write, “I am free of debt.” In both cases, the focus is still on debt. Write down the amount of money you aim for, for instance, “I want 250,000 euros in my account.” That’s specific, and your unconscious mind will understand it.

Time-Bound: By when do you want to achieve this goal? Choose a specific date. If it’s a recurring activity, note down where, how often, and how long you’ll do it each week. Example: “I will jog at least 8 km in the forest on Mondays and Thursdays.”

VAKOG-Specific: (Visual, Auditory, Kinesthetic, Olfactory, Gustatory) What will you see, hear, feel, smell, and taste once you achieve your goal? Make your goal as sensory-specific as possible. We also call it sense-specific when a goal can be expressed in the “language” of the senses.

Self-Achievable: Describe the part of the goal that’s within your power to achieve, through your own efforts. A goal that depends mostly on others doesn’t meet this criterion.

Attractive: Make sure your goal fires you up, that it’s appealing, thus exerting a strong pull on you.

Realistic: You must be able to believe in your goal so that it unleashes strengths within you that you may not have known you possessed.

Resources: What do you still need to achieve your goal? Do you need to build more self-confidence or learn a foreign language first? Which resources do you already have that you can utilize?

Ecology Check: Before you embark on achieving the goal, ask yourself what the positive and negative consequences might be. Knowing these in advance helps you gauge whether the time and resources are worth it. Also consider whether anyone in your system or environment might object.

Visualizing Goals

I’m going to guide you through a very powerful process. Choose one goal for now. You can later apply this to your other important goals on your own. First, read through the description, then do the exercise when you have enough time.

Imagine that you are just achieving—or have already achieved—your goal. Use all your senses. Picture the scene or imagine a film of it. Notice what you hear, feel, smell, and taste. Take your time. Envision as many details as possible. Then, adjust your internal image to make it even more vivid. Use what are called NLP submodalities. This is one of many NLP techniques you can use to intensify your internal experience or reduce it when dealing with fears.

Picture the goal achievement like a movie—now make that movie bigger, more colorful, more vibrant in your mind. Move the image closer. Experiment with different camera angles. Become your own Steven Spielberg, shaping this scene like a movie trailer that makes the goal enticing.

Next, intensify the auditory submodalities. Is there already a soundtrack? Imagine film music for this inner experience. Turn it up loud and strong. See what you can adjust to amplify your feelings further. Give it your all. Make this scene as intense as possible.

The more vivid your visualization, the stronger your motivation and the higher your likelihood of actually pursuing and achieving the goal.

Developing Strong Self-Confidence

All your goals are worthless if you don’t have the strength and courage to pursue them. You need the ability to instantly generate power and self-confidence in critical situations. While moving toward your goals, you’ll repeatedly encounter unfamiliar situations. Sometimes you’ll need to push past your limits and do things outside your comfort zone. You’ll be at the edge of a cliff and have to leap. Some gulfs can only be crossed with a leap, not with two steps.

In such situations, you need to know how to shift your emotional states and build strong confidence. NLP offers numerous methods for this. I’d like to show you a few simple and quick strategies here. Use them, and your life will change. There’s a crucial difference between having all the energy and focus in critical moments versus doubting yourself and letting fear and insecurity distract you.

The Power of Body Posture (Physiology)

Stand with your arms stretched up and smile. Then say, “Oh, how terrible I feel!” You won’t be very convincing. In this posture, it’s almost impossible to feel genuinely bad. Try the opposite: let your arms and shoulders droop. Now say, “Today is my best day!” You won’t be convincing in that posture either.

Our posture influences how we feel. By changing it, we can change our mood. You can shift your feelings quickly this way. Try it out right now. How do you stand when you feel totally self-assured and confident? Adopt that stance and hold it for a moment; you’ll automatically feel better.

Most people use this strategy against themselves. They slump over, act as if they’re already ancient, and then wonder why they have less and less energy. Do better. Assume a strong posture repeatedly throughout the day. After a while, it becomes a habit.

Changing your posture is the quickest way to shift your state. This principle is extremely powerful. If I could only train you in one thing, it would be this, because it determines whether, after a long workday, you can rally to go the extra mile for your dreams—or not. Do you collapse on the couch or can you manage to read another article, write something for your book, or plan a new marketing campaign? Small steps can lead to major change over time.

Anchoring and Triggering

Using the anchoring technique in NLP, you can capture positive emotional states and then rapidly recall them later. Using the same visualization method we used above for setting goals, recall a situation in which you felt strong and unstoppable. Immerse yourself in that feeling.

When you’re fully experiencing that strong feeling, clench your fist to anchor the feeling with the gesture “clench fist.” An anchor is a quick way to re-access the stored feeling later. The next time you need it, you’ll be able to get back into that state much faster, thanks to the anchor.

Two critical principles for setting anchors:

  1. We need a high level of intensity in the experience. Only if the feeling is very strong will the anchor work well. That’s why there are many advanced NLP techniques, such as hypnosis or submodalities work, to intensify feelings.
  2. If we don’t have high intensity, then we need numerous repetitions so the anchor really sticks and triggers the desired state reflexively.

Anchor a powerful sense of self-confidence with a physical movement (e.g., clenching your fist). Later, to recall that strong self-confidence, all you have to do is clench your fist again.

We’ve now covered two strategies for changing emotional states. As a bonus, here’s a third strategy: the Mickey Mouse Technique.

Changing Internal Voices with the Mickey Mouse Technique

Do you ever hear an inner voice telling you, “You can’t do this!” “You’ll never make it!” or some other nonsense that regularly brings you down?

If so, it’s time for you to discover this quick and highly effective NLP technique.

Whenever you hear such an inner voice in the future, modify it in your mind. For example, make it sound like Mickey Mouse’s voice or distort it. Make it slower, faster, higher pitched… You’ll notice that the voice becomes ridiculous after a short time—and that’s a fantastic reaction to a voice that used to hold you back. Now you have control over that voice and can mock it at will. Wonderful!

Next, give the voice a different message and a new tone, e.g., “You can do this!” in the voice of your favorite singer. I always imagine Tina Turner singing “You Are Simply the Best” just for me. And Tina has a chorus of over 100 singers cheering me on, motivating me to do whatever needs doing.

If you use your posture, anchoring, and the Mickey Mouse Technique together, it will significantly enhance your life and boost your self-confidence. If you need more support with applying and implementing, come to my “NLP in a Week” seminar. I’m happy to help you. These seven days will let you build a new life filled with mental strength, power, and energy.

Building Positive Relationships

When you can get other people on board with what you’re doing, you’ll have many friends, a great partner, and plenty of satisfied customers. You’ll be happier than most people and earn more money. It’s worth the effort to connect well with others, gain their trust, and then persuade them of something they wouldn’t have accepted otherwise.

A serious note in advance: Of course, it’s possible to misuse NLP communication techniques—just like any effective method. In the hands of someone who cares nothing about morals or ethics and is only after their own profit, all successful communication tools can become destructive weapons. I can only urge you to use these methods to do good, to heal, teach, or help someone buy what they genuinely need rather than whatever yields the highest margin for you. Used this way, NLP becomes a blessing for humanity.

Mirroring Body Language

Many experiments have shown that we like people who resemble us in body language. We like people who are similar to us. In NLP, we call this mirroring or, in more general terms, pacing. This means matching the other person’s posture or speaking pace with the idea of fostering a friendly connection.

It’s important not to mimic or parody the other person. The point is to align yourself somewhat with them. How are they feeling right now? Careful observation should precede the pacing process. Afterward, you gradually adapt to the other person’s expressive behavior, so they’ll find you more likable than they would otherwise.

What can you pace? Body posture, gestures, facial expressions, speed of speech, favorite words, sitting position, intensity and duration of a handshake, eye contact, etc.

In advanced NLP, there’s much more you can align with, referred to as “matching.” One area includes metaprograms, which are overarching patterns in how we receive information and what motivates us.

Some people, for instance, are extremely detail-oriented. If you pick up on that through their keyword usage, you can use the same meta-program and thus meet them at a deeper level. One of the most famous meta-programs is the motivation pattern: “towards” vs. “away from.”

Some people are much easier to motivate by explaining what they should avoid (away-from) rather than describing what they stand to gain if they succeed (towards).

Many companies offer incentives: “If you reach this or that closing rate, we’ll send you to the Bahamas at company expense.”

That only motivates the “towards” types. The others aren’t interested. Those people are motivated if you tell them, for example, “It seems that this sales area might be a bit too large for you. I think we should hand over the western area to the younger colleague.” That annoys the “away-from type,” and they’ll do everything possible to avoid that outcome. Hence, they get moving.

I once collaborated with a Master group to write our own training manual on these programs, titled “Understanding and Practicing Metaprograms.” It covers recognizing and training the most crucial programs to engage with others effectively.

Beyond that, there are numerous other ways to establish rapport with an individual or even an entire group.

More NLP Methods

There are many different methods in NLP, all sharing one characteristic: they are highly efficient and they work. They were modeled from top specialists in their fields—high-caliber performers. Wouldn’t it be wonderful to quickly, rather than slowly, master many things in life? Wouldn’t it be great if you could model every top performance you observe and start using that strategy yourself the very next day? All of this is possible. That’s what NLP training is about. You learn to apply various existing NLP strategies and to discover even more strategies to integrate into your life. Thus, NLP is not just another method but a meta-method—an approach you can use to optimize all other methods.

Your Next Step

To make the most of NLP’s methods, I encourage you to get going immediately. I wish you much joy and enormous life success with NLP.

Warmly,
Stephan Landsiedel
