Vasco da Gama Strategy with Stephan Landsiedel (Master-Class-Workshop)
In this NLP Master Class, the Vasco da Gama Strategy was presented as a unique macro strategy. The focus was on how significant strategies from history can serve as inspiration for personal and professional development processes.
The session began with an introduction to the concept of strategies in NLP, particularly the distinction between micro and macro strategies. This was followed by an explanation of the famous Walt Disney Strategy as a classic example, before shifting focus to the less well-known Vasco da Gama Strategy.
A central element was the analysis of the approach taken by the Portuguese explorer Vasco da Gama in his quest to find a sea route to India. Participants watched a shortened documentary about his journey and extracted strategic elements such as goal orientation, observation, handling setbacks, resource utilization, and team leadership.
Based on these insights, the Vasco da Gama Strategy was structured as an NLP model and adapted for use in coaching and business contexts. Participants worked with the strategy in a hands-on manner, analyzing their own goals and going through the six core steps of the method.
The session concluded with a reflection round, during which participants shared their experiences and applied the strategy to personal or professional challenges. The workshop provided valuable insights into applying historical success patterns within NLP and how to put them into practice for effective project management, goal setting, and decision-making.
