Metaprogram: Reasons

The Metaprogram: Reasons tells us why someone does something:

Questions:

Why did you just buy this car?
Why did you choose this profession?
Why are you doing what you are doing right now?
While asking these questions, pay attention to whether the person provides reasons. If not, they are a necessity-driven person. Typically, reasons are linked with possibilities. If someone cannot find a reason for doing something, it's usually because they simply feel they have to do it.

Possibility:

They do what they feel like doing, what they want to do. They have a reason for doing something. They see possibilities, alternatives, different paths, reasons. They are motivated to look for new opportunities, new ways to do things. Some of the people with this metaprogram are not motivated by duties or responsibilities at all.

Necessity:

Life is a routine. There is no choice. These people easily get stuck in a rut, as their limited worldview offers no other options, and they are simply used to doing what needs to be done. They rarely look for reasons for their behavior since everything seems compulsory, prescribed, mandatory, etc. Their actions are planned. Typically, these people are rather awkward in situations where they don't have a plan.

Both:

These people are motivated by commitment, a sense of responsibility, and an awareness of possibilities and opportunities. They want to keep their options open and gain new ones. They know the rules, can deal with them, and are also looking for new, better ways.
