Parts Party

This is a complex "integration role-playing game." For one person, the "host," the group represents a celebration of their personality parts.

The people are prominent figures from both the present and the past, each embodying positive or negative traits of the host. Thus, the positive and negative self-image of the host is depicted.

Through the very compact events at the party, the host becomes visible in their entirety, in their problems and their potentials. The host's interaction with their personality parts becomes physically tangible. The mutual influence of the guests, whether in the form of conflicts or cooperation, highlights how the personality parts within the host relate to each other, but also how they can evolve and come together as a whole.

The goal of the Parts Party is to better manage our many different parts and behavioral tendencies and transform them into resources for wholeness and congruence. Through the Parts Party, our inner resources are identified, transformed, and integrated.

  1. The companion and the host of the party must prepare.
    1. Identify (as the companion) the different parts of the host and give them the names of famous people.
    2. Choose adjectives for them.
    3. Categorize these adjectives.
    4. Choose role players.
  2. Ask the parts to get to know each other.
    1. Open the party by asking the parts to introduce themselves to each other and interact with one another.
    2. Have the parts freeze in their posture and identify the feelings they are experiencing in that freeze.
    3. Have these feelings confirmed by the host.
    4. When the parts begin interacting again, ask them to express the feelings that arise with exaggerated intensity.
    5. Have the parts freeze again and become aware of the feelings they are experiencing at that moment.
    6. Ask the host to verify these feelings as well.
  3. Create a conflict.
    1. Ask the parts to try to shape the party according to their own ideas.
    2. Have one part dominate the party.
    3. Have all the parts freeze and identify their feelings.
    4. Verify the feelings with the host.
  4. Transform the conflict
    1. Ask the parts to interact with each other and reach a state of cooperation.
    2. Ask them to create a state of harmony together.
    3. Ask them to accept each other.
    4. Verify the process with the host.
  5. Perform the integration ritual.
    1. Ask each part to describe its many resources and transformations.
    2. Ask each part to request acceptance from the host.
    3. Encourage the host to accept and integrate all parts.
    4. Finally, the host should take responsibility for all their parts, equipped with new choices and new energy.
